NEX-5N with Zeiss Contarex 115mm Tessar

Image
Here is Brian T's Sony NEX-5N with a Carl Zeiss Contarex 115mm f/3.5 Tessar macro bellows lens. The lens was produced between 1962 and 1972 and only 1500 were made. A Contarex to NEX E-mount adapter was used. from Brian: Surprisingly, it's pretty easy to hand hold with the bellows attached, holding the bellows in the left hand, and the camera in the right. It's super easy to focus using the bellows adjustment or on the lens. The bellows also pretty much removes the need for a tripod, as you can just support it on anything available for stabilization. Sony NEX 30mm Macro Lens Samples

Sony NEX-C3 with 30mm f/3.5 Macro Lens Here are some samples from the Sony NEX-C3 and the new E-mount 30mm f/3.5 Macro Lens. These are from Impress.Co.Jp. The 30mm Macro lens , Sony part number SEL30M35, is a native E-mount lens which can take full advantage of the NEX system . The cameras can control the aperture and focusing of the lens. It provides an equivalent FOV of 45mm when used with the NEX's APS-C sensor. The "normal" FOV and macro feature of the lens means you can use this lens for almost all situations. We took 100% crops from the full size samples posted, which were resized to provide perspective. The results below look very good to us, sharp, smooth out of focus area, and great colors. Go to Impress.Co.Jp for full resolution samples from the NEX-C3 and the 30mm Macro SEL30M35 Lens. Thanks Impress.Co.Jp!

Sony NEX Macro Extension Tubes Samples

Image
Sony NEX Macro Extension Tubes with 40mm Rokkor-M Lens Here are some sample shots using the Sony NEX E-mount macro extension tubes and some Rokkor-M lenses. The tubes contain no optical elements. They move the lens further away from the NEX's APS-C sensor therefore reducing the focusing distance and increasing magnification. The trade off to extension tubes are that more light is needed, which can be compensated with slow shutter speeds or high ISO. The shots below were handheld in bright daylight which is not ideal for macro shots. A walk around a small park with the NEX-5 , tubes, and the 40mm Rokkor-M gives us a different perspective. This fruit below is still unknown to us and was already interesting but at 100% zoom, a small community of insects makes it even more interesting. 100% Zoom on Image Sony NEX E-mount Extension Tubes Here are more samples from the 40mm Rokkor-M lens at f/8 or f/11 at high ISO. Helicoid Leica M to NEX E-mount Lens Adapter

Image
Helical Mount Leica M to E-mount Lens Adapter Extended Helical Mount Leica M to E-mount Lens Adapter Retracted Hawk's Factory has produced a Leica M lens adapter for the NEX E-mount that incorporates a helicoid. The helical mount, when retracted, places the Leica M lens at the correct flange focal distance from the NEX's APS-C sensor to achieve infinity focus. At minimum focus distance (MFD), the lens can be moved further away from the sensor by using the helicoid, acting like a macro extension tube . This will allow for focusing closer than the lens' native MFD. The Helicoid Leica M to NEX E-mount Lens Adapter was tested on several lenses and here are the outcomes: SUMMILUX 50/1.4 V1: MFD 1 meter, with adapter 0.43 m SUMMICRON 50/2 V5: MFD 0.75 m, with helicoid adapter 0.38 m HEKTOR 73/1.9: MFD 1.2 m, with helicoid adapter 0.73 m SUMMICRON 90/2 V3: MFD 1 m, with helicoid adapter 0.73 m Rangefinder shooters know that MFD is one of the drawbacks of using rangefinder len

Sony NEX Macro Extension Tubes Available

Image
Macro extension tubes for the NEX E-mount are finally available. Macro tubes move the lens farther away from the sensor which allows for closer focusing which means higher magnification of the image. The tubes are hollow and have no optical elements to degrade the image. The current NEX macro tubes do not have electrical contacts, therefore the 16mm Pancake, 18-55mm OSS Zoom, and the 18-200mm OSS Zoom lenses will not work with the macro tubes. Adapted lenses will work great with them, NEX-C3 to Macro Tubes to E-mount lens adapter to adapted lens. This will be very helpful for rangefinder lenses and their large minimum focus distance (MFD). Sony NEX Macro Extension Tubes are available on eBay .

Sony NEX 30mm Macro Lens E-mount

Image
Sony 30mm f/3.5 Macro Lens for NEX Cameras Here is the fourth E-mount lens for the NEX cameras from Sony. It is the new E-mount 30mm Macro Lens with a maximum aperture of f/3.5. The official part number of the lens is SEL30M35. This is a true macro lens and provides a 1:1 magnification or reproduction ratio. The lens has a minimum working distance of under an inch, 0.94 inch or 2.4 centimeters. The lens will work with the new NEX-C3 , NEX-3, NEX-5, NEX-VG10, and NEX-FS100 in all modes, autofocus and auto-aperture. At 138 grams or 0.3 pounds this is one lightweight macro lens. The lens will provide an equivalent FOV of 45mm on the NEX APS-C sensor for photos and 54mm for videos. When used on the NEX-FS100, the lens has an FOV of a 45mm lens for HD videos. The price of the new NEX 30mm f/3.5 Macro is listed at 30,000 Yen from the Sony Japan website. This the same price as the NEX 16mm f/2.8 Pancake Lens which currently goes for $249 dollars. The SEL30M35 will be available in Se

Sony NEX with Zeiss 50mm Makro Planar

Image
Sony NEX-5 with Zeiss 50mm Macro Lens Berylliuminc was gracious enough to share some images from his NEX-5 and the Zeiss 50mm f/2.0 Makro Planar ZF . The Zeiss 50 MP has a Nikon mount and a Novoflex Nikon to NEX E-mount adapter is used. This equates to a 75mm field of view for the NEX APS-C sensor. Here are the NEX with Zeiss 50 Makro samples. The colors and drawing style is what you can expect from a Zeiss lens. These images were JPGs straight from the NEX-5 with no post processing. They were downsized to be posted here. Thanks Beryllium Inc!!

Sony NEX-3 with Minolta Bellows III and Minolta 50mm f/1.4 MD Rokkor FlickrDelusion wanted to get large with his NEX-3. What better way than to use a bellows system for macro pictures. Luckily he had a Minolta Bellows III and a Minolta 50mm f/1.4 Rokkor MD at hand. A Minolta MD to Sony NEX E-mount lens adapter and he had linked the past to the present. Here are some samples of the NEX-3, the Minolta Auto Bellows III, and the Minolta 50mm at different apertures. 50mm MD Rokkor @f/16 50mm MD Rokkor @f/5.6 50mm MD Rokkor @f/1.4 Thank's FlickrDelusions!

Sony NEX DSLR via Leica Visoflex

Sony NEX-3, Leica Visoflex I, and a Leitz 280mm/f4.8 ver.2 Lens Here is NikonD200 's Sony NEX DSLR with the use of the Leica Visoflex I from 1956. The Visoflex is attached to the NEX-3 using a Leica M to E-mount lens adapter . Below shows how a Leica bellows can be used for macro shots using the NEX and the Visoflex. Sony NEX-3, Leica Visoflex I, Bellows I and a Leitz 280mm/f4.8 ver.2 Lens The focusing and composing is done through the Leica Visoflex viewfinder. A lever flips up the mirror and then hits the shutter release button. Leica Visoflex in Action So if you are looking for a viewfinder for your NEX, hunt down a Leica Visoflex.
