Hands On with the Sony A6000 Sony A6000 Available for Pre-order Here is a quick look at the newly announce Sony A6000 camera. It replaces the Sony NEX-6 but keeps the same form factor. The big improvement is the 24 megapixel sensor up from 16 mp on the NEX-6. It also boasts the fastest AF for an APS-C mirrorless camera with focus lock in 0.06 seconds. The speed burst is bumped up to 11 fps. All this while keeping the same NEX-6 price for the A6000 body at $648 . The silver looks a bit like champagne and looks handsome with the black grip. This announcement has us excited for the NEX-7 replacement. Zeiss 24-70mm FE ZA with the A7r Zeiss 24-70mm AF Speed Test SLR Club posted a video of the autofocus speed of the new Zeiss 24-70mm f/4 ZA FE Vario-Tessar lens . This lens is made for the new Sony A7 cameras and covers its full frame sensor. This lens will also work on NEX aps-c cameras and will have an equivalent fov of 36-105mm. We are wondering how this lens compares to the Zeiss 16-70mm E ZA lens which is for the aps-c sensor. Both lenses share the common features. They have image stabilization, maximum aperture of f/4, and are dubbed Vario-Tessar by Zeiss. Zeiss 24-70mm FE ZA Pre-order from Amazon Ships early February

Sony RX10 Video - Grand Canyon Winter

Grand Canyon Winter ( Sony DSC-RX10 ) from Dan Carter on Vimeo. Here's some nice footage of the Grand Canyon from the Sony DSC-RX10 by Dan Carter. The 1" sensor coupled to a 24-200mm zoom lens makes for a great compact travel camera that also produces excellent video as shown by Dan.

One way to change your lens.

Happy new year to all.

Canon 6D vs NEX-7 with Speedbooster

Image
Canon 6D vs Sony NEX-7 with Metabones Speedbooster Tarocoo wanted to see what the NEX-7 with the Canon EF to E-mount Speedbooster can do against his full frame Canon 6D . He had access to a multitude of manual focus lenses which can be used on both E-mount and EF mount (EOS). The Speedbooster's final EFOV on the NEX APS-C sensor is about 1.1x the focal lenght - so the EFOV is close to the Canon 6D with the full frame sensor. The lenses used are: Sigma 24mm f/2.8 Sigma 28mm f/2.8 Olympus 35mm f/2.0 Sigma 50mm f/1.4 The images will show the whole scene at wide open to an aperture of f/11. It will be followed by center and corner crops at same aperture range. Here we go... Canon 6D vs NEX-7 Speedbooster Sigma 24mm f/2.8 Canon 6D vs NEX-7 Speedbooster Sigma 28mm f/2.8 Canon 6D vs NEX-7 Speedbooster Olympus 35mm f/2.0 Canon 6D vs NEX-7 Speedbooster Pentax 50mm f/1.4 We think the samples speak well for the NEX-7 and the Metabon
