Tilt Shift Timelapse from Sony NEX-6 and A7s by darwinfish105

darwinfish105 used the Sony NEX-6 time lapse app at 1 second intervals and the Sony A7s with the RM-VPR1 remote in continuous mode to produce this wonderful time lapse.

Commlite has their own version which is about 1/4 the price with all the same features. Both lens adapters will allow your EOS lens to communicate with the Sony body. The Image Stabilization feature will work and autofocus as well, although slowly. The Commlite lens adapter comes in black and off-white to almost match your Canon lens. Sony E-mount Lens Roadmap Updated

Image
Updated Lens Roadmap for E-mount Cameras Macro G Lens and High Speed Prime Zeiss Added to 2014 Release We just noticed that the E-mount lens roadmap has been updated to provide detail to the two upcoming lenses. The roadmap suggests that we will see three more lenses before years end. One will be a Sony G Macro lens - our guess? 100mm f/2.8 macro, similar to the Sony 100mm macro . The other lens will be a Zeiss high speed prime lens - our guess? 24mm f/1.4 maybe more of a wish. This lens could be based on the NEX's 24mm f/1.8 ZA Sonnar or the A-mount Zeiss 24mm f/2 Distagon .

NY Botanical Garden with the A7r and Minolta 35-70mm MD

Image
We took the Sony A7r with the Minolta 35-70mm MD Macro lens to the New York Botanical Garden's The Orchid Show . The 35-70mm MD Macro makes for a nice walkabout zoom lens for the full frame A7r. It can cover wide angle to medium telephoto shots. The majority of pictures poster here were taken using macro mode, providing 1:4 magnification. The aperture was set at f/5.6 - f/8. The Sony A7r was set to shutter priority mode at 1/200 and auto ISO. This was in order to minimize camera shake indoors, since this was all hand held. We were pleased with the results and drawing style provided by the a7r and the Minolta 35-70mm. This would be a nice inexpensive travel lens.

Sony A7s First Impressions by Luminous Landscapes

Image
Sony A7s with Zeiss 24-70mm FE ZA Luminous Landscapes gives us their first impressions with the new low-light king, the Sony A7s . Read their A7s first impression here . They provide samples between the Sony A7s and the A7r to test the A7s' low light capability. Video capability is also discussed. Here are some interesting quotes that we found. Sony is producing more new and interesting cameras, in more categories, and with more new technology than the two market leaders combined. a 12MP file from the A7s can be printed at a size of 16 X 24" when upressed to 360ppi. There is something to the look of A7s files that reminds me of medium format, At ISO 51,200 the A7s is quite usable with some moderate noise reduction My only complaint is that the interface team at Sony forgot to add this feature (Electronic Shutter) to the twelve position Function menu. Why not just keep Electronic Shutter as the default?

Voigtlander 12mm Ultra Wide Heliar Sony A7r Samples

Rolling. Here are some shots of Brooklyn produced by the Sony A7r and the Voigtlander 12mm f/5.6 Ultra Wide Heliar. This is the 1st version of the 12mm lens in Leica M mount .  You can see the color shift but it's not intrusive for these snaps.  The Voigtlander 12mm is compact and looks great on the A7r. Wilted. Sony A7 Mounted on the Rhinocam

Image
Sony A7 with Rhinocam (Ground glass removed) Here's a video showing how to mount the Sony A7 camera onto a Vizelex Rhinocam . The Rhinocam was designed for e-mount NEX cameras. Due to the viewfinder location of the A7, there is interference when the camera us rotated to portrait mode for 645 shots. This is resolved by removing the ground glass found on the Rhinocam. It provides a quick view for framing only and does not affect the final image. How To Mount the Sony A7 on the Rhinocam Here was our previous post on the Rhinocam with an introduction and walk-through video. Vizelex Rhinocam by Fotodiox

Sony A7r with Contax G 28mm Biogon Test Shots

Image
Manhattan from Brooklyn We are still learning which lenses play well with the Sony A7r and we found one that's not so friendly. The Contax G 28mm f/2.8 Biogon, shown in our previous post , is a non-retrofocus rangefinder lens which means that the rear of the lens is closer to the film plane or sensor. This causes the light at the edges to hit the Sony's A7r full frame sensor at oblique angles which results in color casts. This happens with the Leica M9 and M240 but is corrected with in-camera with software. The color cast can also be corrected with CornerFix or Light Room's Flat Field Plug-in, discussed by Tobinators here . We did not correct the images here for color cast. Apart from the color cast, the Contax G 28mm Biogon performed well. We love the sharpness, contrast, and color the lens and the Sony A7r sensor delivers. Most of the shots are at f/5.6 or f/8 as we tried for the sweet spot of the lens. The A7r was set to Aperture Priority as there was plenty

Another Sony A7s High ISO Test

Sony A7s High ISO Test by ArtBenny ArtBenny tests the Sony A7s' high iso capability by shooting in a pitch black room. The Zeiss 55mm f/1.8 Sonnar FE lens was used for the test. He states that the A7s was still able to autofocus in such low light. The Sony A7s will be available on July 8th and is priced at $2500. Sony A7s with a Zeiss 24-70mm OSS Lens
